چکیده

The envelope of Autocorrelation Function (ACF) of BOC signal has a narrower main lobe that enables higher resolution of acquisition and tracking. However, the existence of multiple secondary peaks and multiple zero crossings can cause signal detection missing and false lock. In order to get rid of this ambiguity, several methods are proposed, such as oversampling, sub-carrier phase cancellation (SCPC), BPSK-like, Autocorrelation SidePeak Correlation Technique (ASPeCT) and Teager-Kaiser (TK) operator. In this paper, these unambiguous methods are briefly summarized and compared, e.g. the BPSK-like method is elaborated. The BOC signal is modeled as the sum of a series BPSK signals with different amplitudes, which is equivalent to multi-carrier modulated signal. An improved BPSK-like method is presented, in which the maximum ratio combination (MRC) is used to receive signal modulated by the first and second carriers. Compared with traditional BPSK-like method, the proposed method can increase the detection probability and reduce the energy loss. FFT based parallel searching strategy is applied in estimating the received signal’s Doppler shift and code delay.

A Design Method of Code Correlation Reference Waveform in GNSS Based on Least-Squares Fitting

The multipath effect is one of the main error sources in the Global Satellite Navigation Systems (GNSSs). The code correlation reference waveform (CCRW) technique is an effective multipath mitigation algorithm for the binary phase shift keying (BPSK) signal. However, it encounters the false lock problem in code tracking, when applied to the binary offset carrier (BOC) signals. A least-squares a...

A New Unambiguous BOC(n,n) Signal Tracking Technique*

GALILEO, the major contribution of the European Union to the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), will be both independent and complementary to the current GPS. It is still in its design phase, and while the signals have to be finalized, the main specifications have already been confirmed. The Binary Offset Carrier (BOC) modulation is part of the current GALILEO signal plan. A BOC modulat...

Complexity Considerations for Unambiguous Acquisition of Galileo Signals

In order to obtain a higher spectral separation from the BPSK-like signals, i.e. GPS C/A code, the signals proposed for future Galileo and GPS M-code signals are processed using split-spectrum type modulations, such as Binary Offset Carrier (BOC) modulation. These BOC modulations create deep fades (ambiguities) in the envelope of the Autocorrelation Function (ACF) of signal, and therefore the a...

Statistical Analysis of BPSK-Like Techniques for the Acquisition of Galileo Signals

The main modulation types selected for the future Galileo signals are sine and cosine Binary-Offset-Carrier (SinBOC/CosBOC) modulations. On one hand, BOC-modulated signals have a narrower main lobe of their Autocorrelation Function (ACF), which allows a better accuracy in the delay tracking process. On the other hand, the acquisition process becomes more complex, due to the ambiguities in the A...
